Shia LaBeouf originally starred opposite Florence Pugh in Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling before the role of Jack was handed over to Harry Styles. Still, just before product began, LaBeouf left the design with Warner Bros. Pictures, citing a regularly used phrase: “scheduling conflicts. “Now, in a new interview with Variety, director Wilde offers a fresh perspective on the actor’s exit.
“I say this as someone who’s similar a addict of his work,” begins Wilde. “ Their process didn’t fit the morality I sought in my products. They have a process that, in some ways, requires a combinatorial energy, and I personally don’t believe it is best suited for performance.
I believe the stylish way is to produce a safe, trusting terrain for people to do their stylish work. Eventually, it’s my responsibility to cover the product and the cast. That was my job.
LaBeouf is known for his “fighting” and erratic behavior on and off film sets, resulting in numerous arrests and public scandals. However, shortly after LaBeouf was fired from Don’t Worry Darling, FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit against her former partner for sexual battery, accusing the two of “relentless abuse” while dating. The trial is scheduled for April 2023.
“A lot of things came out after that that really bothered me in terms of his behavior,” Wilde says. “I really wish him health and growth because I believe in restorative justice. But for our film, we really needed an energy that is incredibly supportive.
Especially with a film like this, I knew I was going to ask Florence to be in veritably vulnerable circumstances, and my precedence was to make her feel safe and make her feel supported.
With LaBeouf out and in full view of the worldwide pandemic, Styles soon freed himself from touring and was able to play the role he originally intended for him.
